Introduction
My name is Jonathan David and ever since I was a kid growing up in NY delivering newspapers and shoveling snow off driveways, I believed in the American dream that ANYONE could achieve success if they were willing to work hard.  However, there are thousands of good people who work very hard, but just never seem to get a break, a stroke of good luck, or the right opportunity.  Many of us fall victim to the schemes of unethical companies who hoard profits while paying pennies to those doing the work.
There is a Better Way!

Thank you for taking the time to consider starting your own business.  I hope to be able to gain your trust and help you achieve your goals in a very realistic way.  I have been successful with several online and offline businesses over the past decade, but they all have a few things in common.  They are consumable items (necessary for repeat business) with huge demand in large industries, and most importantly to me...  they help people and pets!  To be successful in your own home business, the product must have a true retail market whether it's a pet food or nutritional supplement.

Let me take a minute here to emphasize this need for a true retail market.  A network marketing company cannot sustain income for its members if EVERYONE is a distributor.  That's common sense.  Everyone cannot earn money.  The "have nots" will significantly outweigh the income earners and statistically 97% WILL FAIL to earn enough for their product.  That's 97 out of 100 people in the business failing to earn enough to even cover the cost of their own product.

I am not trying to discourage you.  Network marketing is a terrific way to bring product to market and provide a great income opportunity for distributors.  This is NOT the way it should be, but most companies are built on income hype, turnover is extremely high, and only few people in the company benefit.  The company owner is always included in those few and they will do and say just about anything to trick people into joining.

I used to participate in companies that overhyped inferior products and promised big money to prospects.  I PROUDLY LEFT even though I was earning money... because it is BAD money when it is earned at the expense of others who are being misled by false statements and claims.  I believe in karma and do not care to align myself with inferior companies or people who lack integrity.

On the other hand, if you have real retail market for your products (need great value!) where there is a demand for the product at the price being sold EVEN IF THERE WAS NO BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, then you have a solid business to build with growth potential for everyone who decides to pursue the business / marketing side of the company.

I just shared the greatest secret to home business success and why so many people fail to earn money in their own home based businesses with all these juice, pill, etc. network marketing companies.  You need to have a product people want and more importantly that you want & would purchase yourself at the company price even if there was no associated business opportunity.  Think of yourself as a consumer!

People often fail in network marketing because they feature some miracle ingredient from a berry that barely even exists in the product, some magic mushroom, a cheap liquid multivitamin, etc. and hype it (often illegally, but that's another story) to sell at a huge profit.  All these companies and YOU as a representative are really selling to others is HYPE to earn money.  The product is a facade.

Note:  I have nothing against a business taking profits, but when a $32 liquid nutritional cannot sell for 50 cents retail... something is seriously wrong!

These companies give a bad name to the few good ones out there.  I have analyzed several hundred companies.  Success rates are low because products are rarely if ever as advertised and people only join to make money, so they are not going to stick around long.  Retention is a killer in this business.  Strong retention is needed for residual (recurring) monthly income that people are trying to create...  those one-time efforts that pay you over and over.  These inferior products are ridiculously hyped and overpriced with no real retail market, so of course people are not going to stick around.  As soon as the 97% realize they are not going to earn money, they leave (and usually to another company with the same result!).

Note:  Testimonials are crafted by the company or a representative "for the company" that completely misrepresent the product and benefits.  It is not only unethical, but illegal.

Quite simply, people buy into the product and money making hype... and that's the recipe for failure!  It causes tens of thousands of well-intentioned people to jump from one company's promise of wealth to the next.  The desire to earn money is there, but the prevalent outcome is failure.  Stay away from the hype and resist the temptation to act on emotion.

Keep in mind there is NO FREE RIDE in any online business and nobody is going to do all the work for you.  You will need to effectively market your business and build momentum on your team from your OWN actions.  Retention is also going to play a huge part in making a successful home-based business a reality.  If the customers in my healthy pet food business did not continue to order, I'd lose money.  Instead, I have a retention over 90% (typical network companies are far less than 20% every 3-6 months!).  The foods are of the highest quality, fresh delivery is convenient, and it is a great value.  This all leads to high retention, so I can count on higher future income as I find new customers and distributors.  There is a real demand for this high quality product.

Building Your Business:

So now you have a company that you feel comfortable representing.  You have personally tried and like the products.  Now what?  Well, you start marketing and recruiting people to build your team.  When you recruit distributors on your team (as opposed to retail customers), you need to realize that they are joining to earn money too!  You should help them achieve this.  You cannot build if members on your team are leaving for another opportunity every 3 months.  This is a real pattern in the online networking business.  People look for quick riches and are ultimately disappointed.

How are you going to keep people in the business so you can continue to collect and grow your residual (recurring) income?  Well, they will be more likely to stay if they are making more money than they are spending.  This is why you need to look at the "break-even" point.  Evaluate how many people in your organization you'll need to get into profit.  I'm NOT talking about bonuses or other incentives that go away after a month or two.  I'm talking about the true residual income you will receive from members on your team months and years down the road.  The #1 company listed below has addressed this retention issue in a fantastic way and getting people into profits quickly!

Note:  There are a lot of companies, particularly matrix and binary structured companies, that fail to pay any real money on early levels!  Beware these companies because not only is it going to be difficult for you to get into profit, but it will be hard for distributors on your team to get into profit.  Products in these companies tend to be poor quality too.  The net result is going to be poor retention and a shrinking of your income.

I have left companies that did things I do not like... even though I was earning money in them.  I have zero tolerance for leadership that lacks integrity.  There are many thousands of people in these opportunities under me, so I continue "light" support for them.  If your interests are in one of these companies, I will support you and tap you into upline resources so you can be successful.
 

IMPORTANT:  Government Regulation!

Nutritional supplements and these many juices and pills on the market are generally unregulated.  This is particularly troublesome in network marketing where false claims cost people a lot of money.  There are many companies that put cheap products on the market to increase profits, but it is terribly irresponsible because people consume these products too!

I'm not one for too much government regulation, but I welcome some intervention.  There is US government (FDA/FTC) legislation in the works that once passed will shut down these companies with these inferior products and misleading claims.  Stricter laws are coming!

Many companies provide misleading health claims and testimonials for hype.  It is not only unethical, but illegal.  You need to be very careful when working with these companies and/or consuming their products.  Keep in mind that they are not regulated, particularly in the network marketing industry where there are a lot of scams and inferior products alike can shut down a company in a flash.  It has happened before and there are hundreds of companies sitting out there today that are crossing the legal line.  What good is creating a residual income if the company is not going to be around in years to come?

You should also know that you can personally be held accountable for spreading company information that is misleading or violates law.  There are many companies out there in direct violation of permissible acts according to the law... and ignorance is not an excuse.  You can be held accountable even if you did not know the information was not factual.  You, not the company, are responsible for the information you are sharing with others.

Note:  There are many companies that look legitimate.  Do not be fooled by appearance.  You will see a person that looks like a doctor or industry expert voicing opinion as fact.  They usually start talking with "I believe" or some other disclaimer so they can say whatever they want!  Many even have great credentials, call themselves doctors without an accredited degree, or dress up like one, but don't be fooled.  Also look at labels and see if you're getting a bunch of isolated ingredients or a quality whole food product.

Remember, this is YOUR business!  Think about the product you are marketing!  It is one of the most important decisions you will make for your success and for your health as a consumer.

A word about pay plan types...

There are many different ways to compensate people for their marketing efforts in network marketing.  A pay plan is simply the way you get paid for your performance.  Many plans out there are created with a lot of hype and many fall short of expectation.  Be weary of "get rich quick" schemes and be smart!  You're NOT going to earn $3000 your first week anywhere, and nobody is going to pay you to do nothing.  There is no "magic" built into pay plans anywhere!  The best you will do is to be paid fairly for your contributions to your business and have a fair opportunity to build a residual (recurring) monthly income.

Note:  The company needs to make money too!  They cannot stay in business if they pay reps more than they profit from sales minus what they pay out.  It is common sense that they have overhead like office space, employees, manufacturing / product costs, etc.  That said, they should make profit and so should you!  The best companies are those that can make a profit and pay their reps fairly without overpricing the product(s).

All network marketing plans fall into one of three categories:  binary, matrix, and unilevel.  Unilevel is BY FAR the most fair and profitable.  The other plans are seriously flawed and often heavily tilted toward the company at the expense of the average networker.

Binary plans look attractive to novice networkers, but they are the absolute worst.  You should avoid binary plans at all costs...  they are total scams!  This is why binary plans are already illegal in some countries!  They should be illegal everywhere.  I hate to get much into the details of this type of pay plan, but I want to provide some high level info so you can see beyond the hype.  In a binary scheme, you need to balance volume on your left and right legs to get paid.  You will get paid little if at all for people under you.  It's a ridiculous exercise, and impossible for even the most experienced networkers.  The beneficiary is the company and the few people at the top where it does not matter as much if the legs are unbalanced.  The companies will then parade the leaders and show astonishing incomes, but the real winner is the company at the expense of the reps.  They keep people coming and going and rake in big money.  This is the plan where there are very few "haves" at the expense of the very many "have nots!"  You do not receive fair compensation for your efforts in a binary plan and the best advice I can give you is to run the other way when you see one.

Matrix plans do not work.  Product costs are generally significantly inflated to pay its members.  Owners typically deliver inexpensive products with little value to create profits.  For example, there's a company selling a product with ridiculous claims of increasing IQ with its synthetic ingredients.  It costs over $32 a bottle and it sells for about 75 cents on EBay (on a good day!).  Worse yet, the sale of this bottle to distributors on levels 1-3 of the matrix receive 75 cents on the bottle for their residual income!  Going to take a lot of bottles to make back the cost of their own product!

Notably, you need to be very careful of the junk products out there at inflated prices.  There are many scams out there.  If its all about the pay plan and making money, it's not a good long-term venture.  Product is vital to long term success... and don't be fooled by product claims.  See above where I discuss government regulation!

The biggest down side to the matrix plan is that they set unrealistic expectations of "spillover."  Spillover is simply the expectation that as people above you recruit, the forced matrix has a limited width that will create new reps under you.  This is greatly misleading and widely misunderstood.  Companies allow people to think this way because it generates sales and helps with recruiting, but it is the WRONG thing to do!  I highly recommend you forget spillover and avoid any company that talks about it...  few get it and those that do will not get enough to create an income.  Do not count on earning money doing nothing.  The effective way to be successful in a matrix plan, or any plan for that matter, is to bring in distributors and support them.  As those you recruit grow, so will you.  You plant the seeds and apply the Sun and Water!

Without going into excessive detail here, you often need to personally recruit heavily and consistently to build an income in a matrix plan.  Like binaries, people enter with "get rich quick" hopes and are frequently discouraged within 2-5 months, so they quit and bounce to the next "great" opportunity.  Retention in matrix plans are a huge obstacle!  It's a terrible cycle a lot of people go through in this business.  Unfortunately, they are sure to fail again because they learned nothing.  The problem is that if you start any business with the expectation that your sponsor or upline is going to build your team, you are setting yourself up for failure.  It's your business and YOU need to be responsible to make it grow.  It helps to have a competent and supportive upline, but you should never rely on your upline to place people on your team.  That's not how you are going to become successful.

Notably, the new company mentioned above does have a component that is "matrix," but it is also a unilevel.  You'll see the mix is exceptional and lucrative.

UniLevel Plans are simple to understand, set realistic expectations, and there are none of the tricks or "gotcha's" that you will find in binary and matrix plans!  You can see what your qualifier is and there is no expectation of people doing the work for you.  Unilevel plans are fair and lucrative.  It creates action and takes the "get rich quick" out of the equation.  You can focus on building a legitimate business and get paid equitably for your performance.

You will notice ALL of the plans I have listed above are built primarily on the unilevel pay structure.  I can feel comfortable recommending them!  Take a look at the new opportunity as a great example...  just two active distributors on the 2nd level and you've offset your product cost... that leads to great retention and true residual income!

I take a long-term approach to my home business and this is why I am so excited about the companies I recommend to others.  I can sleep at night knowing that I am earning money and doing the right thing by others.  I have no interest in making quick profits with inferior companies or misleading anyone.  I pride myself on my integrity.  Not many people stand by those principals in this industry, but I find some do and I look forward to working with those who do.
